Our Core Values

The Peace Economy Project is guided by the belief that true security is built through care, dignity, and a shared well-being—not punishment, militarization, or fear. This is not a comprehensive list of things we care about, these are simply values our work is grounded in:

1. Human Dignity

Every person, regardless of immigration status, race, religion, or background, deserves to live with dignity, safety, and opportunity. Policies that dehumanize, criminalize, or terrorize communities undermine the moral fabric of a just society.

2. Nonviolence

We believe lasting social change is achieved through nonviolent action, dialogue, and collective care. We reject violence, intimidation, and tactics that cause harm or fear, even when driven by justified anger or grief.

3. Peaceful and Civic Engagement

Peaceful protest and free expression are fundamental rights in a democratic society. We affirm that effective movements are grounded in accountability, care for community spaces, and respect for the rights of others, including religious freedom.

4. Community Safety Over Militarization

We oppose the expansion of militarized systems—whether in policing, immigration enforcement, or national security—that escalate harm and drain resources from health, housing, education, and community-based solutions. Real safety comes from meeting human needs, not expanding coercive power.

5. Accountability and Transparency

Government and non-government agencies must be held accountable for actions that result in harm, abuse, or loss of life. Transparency, oversight, and the rule of law are essential to public trust and democratic governance.

6. Care-Centered Policy

We advocate for policies that prioritize care over punishment—investing in social services, conflict prevention, restorative justice, and economic stability rather than surveillance, detention, and force.

7. Solidarity Across Difference

We stand in solidarity with immigrants, faith communities, workers, and marginalized groups while recognizing that movements are strongest when they build bridges rather than deepen divisions. We seek solutions that unite communities rather than isolate them.

8. Thoughtful, Strategic Action

We are committed to approaches that are ethical, effective, and sustainable. Our work and actions are rooted in evidence-based research, lived experience, and a long-term vision for peace.
