A Better Future Begins Today: Block U.S. Arms Sales to End the Bloodshed

black smoke coming from fire

As the fragile ceasefire in Gaza has collapsed, the world is once again witnessing an escalation of violence with devastating human consequences. At least 400 Palestinians have been killed and over 500 injured in a new wave of Israeli strikes, many of them women and children. The renewed assault underscores the urgent need to rethink U.S. military aid and arms transfers to Israel, which continue to fuel the destruction.

For decades, the U.S. has provided Israel with unconditional military support, sending billions of dollars in weapons and funding despite mounting reports of human rights violations, indiscriminate bombings, and disproportionate use of force against civilians. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we challenge this status quo.

Congress Must Act

There are already bills in Congress aimed at blocking U.S. arms transfers to Israel, yet many lawmakers previously used the ceasefire as a justification for their inaction. That excuse no longer exists. The violence has resumed, and with it, our responsibility to demand change.

Continuing arms sales and military aid to Israel in this moment is a clear endorsement of war crimes and occupation. It enables ongoing civilian casualties and deepens the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. This is not just a policy failure—it is a moral failure.

The Financial Cost of War

At a time when our own communities suffer from underfunded schools, a lack of affordable healthcare, and crumbling infrastructure, the U.S. is spending billions on war. Instead of bankrolling destruction, those funds could be used to:

  • Expand access to education and healthcare for Americans struggling to afford basic services.
  • Address housing insecurity and homelessness.
  • Invest in climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure.

The defense industry profits while everyday people—both in Palestine and in the U.S.—bear the cost.

What We Can Do

The Peace Economy Project calls on all those who support justice and peace to take action:

Contact your members of Congress and demand they cosponsor legislation to block arms sales to Israel.

Educate your community on the human and financial cost of endless militarization.

Divest from war by supporting initiatives that redirect military spending to social needs.

Join protests, rallies, and advocacy efforts to push for a ceasefire and an end to military aid.

For too long, the cycle of violence has been perpetuated by unchecked military support. Now is the time to demand accountability, cut the flow of weapons, and work toward a true peace economy—one that values life over war.
