August 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
While the real mortality of the atomic bombs remains unknown, it is estimated that over 150,000 (Hiroshima) and 75,000 (Nagasaki) people were killed and wounded during the US bombings of Japan. And the aftermath continues today. Survivors and their decedents face a number of illnesses and risk of cancer. Children of survivors have been found to have conclusive DNA genetic changes and malformations.
Please join us for a memorial event, remembering the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, sponsored by Veterans For Peace, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, and Citizens for Global Solutions.

Today, the U.S. nuclear stockpile contains 2,400 megatons, the equivalent to 159,000 Hiroshimas! As currently planned, maintaining and modernizing the U.S. nuclear arsenal will exceed $1 Trillion over the next 30 years.
All stages of the nuclear chain, from mining to power production to testing and storage of waste, expose surrounding populations to extremely long-lived mutagenic radionuclides that can lead to birth defects, cancers and other devastating diseases.
Our government should be working in to eliminate nuclear arms, not misdirecting more of our tax dollars to “modernize” weapons of mass destruction. #NuclearFreeFuture #NuclearZero
