As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza<\/a> continues to deepen, the U.S. is on the verge of approving yet another massive weapons package to Israel\u2014this time totaling $8.8 billion<\/strong>. These weapons would include thousands of bombs, missiles, artillery shells, and bomb guidance systems\u2014all of which have already been used to devastating effect against Palestinian civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (S.J. Res. 26<\/a> and S.J. Res. 33<\/a>)<\/strong> to block these arms sales and demand accountability. The Peace Economy Project stands in full support of this effort, and we are joining our partners at Peace Action to call on all Americans to act now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why It Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Over 50,000<\/a> Palestinians have been killed<\/strong> since October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The recent breakdown of the ceasefire on March 17 has led to the deaths of 800 more Palestinians<\/strong> in just days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 U.S. weapons and tax dollars are fueling what human rights experts and a U.S. federal judge have identified as a plausible case of genocide<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Over 26,000<\/strong> JDAM kits and fuzes to convert bombs into precision-guided weapons<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a time when our communities at home are facing underfunded schools, crumbling infrastructure, and unmet healthcare needs, the U.S. government continues to prioritize arms deals over human lives and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy name is [Your Name], and I\u2019m a constituent from [Your State]. I urge the senator to vote YES on S.J. Res. 26 and S.J. Res. 33 to block the $8.8 billion weapons package to Israel. These weapons have been used in apparent war crimes and to target civilians in Gaza. The U.S. must stop enabling this violence. Thank you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
