(AP) _ The public will have an opportunity to suggest changes to the training requirements of law enforcers in Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>The Missouri Department of Public Safety says the Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission will hold six public meetings statewide.<\/p>\n<p>The first will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield. Other meetings will be Sept. 17 in Jefferson City, Sept. 23 in St. Louis, Sept. 29 in Sikeston, Oct. 7 in Kansas City, Missouri, and Oct. 14 in Kirksville.<\/p>\n<p>The venues are in response to Gov. Jay Nixon\u2019s directive this month to the commission and the state\u2019s public safety agency to update and enhance law enforcement training standards statewide.<\/p>\n<p>The commission and the department is to recommend any new rules to Nixon by Dec. 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SPRINGFIELD, Mo.
