{"id":2511,"date":"2013-12-07T19:00:51","date_gmt":"2013-12-08T01:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peaceeconomyproject.org\/wordpress\/?p=2511"},"modified":"2013-12-26T10:54:59","modified_gmt":"2013-12-26T16:54:59","slug":"10th-annual-working-class-media-democracy-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peaceeconomyproject.org\/wordpress\/10th-annual-working-class-media-democracy-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"10th Annual &#8216;Working Class Media &#038; Democracy&#8217; forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Saturday, December 7<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> 7:00 to 9:00 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Epiphany United Church of Christ, 2911 McNair Ave.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MO\/KS People&#8217;s World (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peoplesworld.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">www.peoplesworld.org<\/a>) will host the 10th Annual &#8216;Working Class Media &amp; Democracy&#8217; forum on Saturday, December 7th.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Media Forum will be a panel discussion featuring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tim Rowden, <em>St. Louis Labor Tribune reporter and associate editor\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pamela Merrit, <em>Progress Missouri communications director, blogger at Angry Black Bitch, and former Statewide E-Organizer for Planned Parenthood Affiliate of Missouri<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Rasheen Aldridge, <em>STL Can\u2019t Survive on $7.35 activist and organizer<\/em><\/li>\n<li>John Wojcik, <em>People\u2019s World labor editor and International Labor Communications Association vice president<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The panel will discuss the relationship between democracy and media and talk about their personal experiences advocating for workers\u2019 rights, democracy and equality through different media, including social media.<\/p>\n<p>A question and answer session will follow directly after the panel discussion. The panel and discussion will be moderated by Shannon Duffy, from the St. Louis United Media Guild.<\/p>\n<p>Program booklet ads are: $150 (quarter page), $300 (half-page), and $500 (full page). We hope you will consider taking out an ad in this year\u2019s program booklet. The program booklet ad deadline is December 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $25.
