by\u00a0Candace Jarrett<\/a>, Hazelwood Patch The\u00a0Department of Defense has awarded The Boeing Co.\u00a0a $16.5 million contract to repair AV-8 Harrier aircraft parts for the\u00a0U.S. Marine Corps<\/a>.<\/p>\n The work will be performed in St. Louis and is expected to start Oct. 10 and last until Sept. 30, 2015, according to\u00a0Stephanie Bass, communications specialist at Boeing.<\/p>\n No new jobs will be created for the contract, rather about 60 workers at the Hazelwood defense facility\u00a0are part of the Harrier team.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Department of Defense issued 18 contracts on Wednesday<\/a>\u00a0worth $870 million.
