The bombers detonated their explosives just as Sunday services were ending and there were hundreds of worshippers at the 130-year-old church in Peshawar. One of the suicide bombers detonated himself inside the church while another apparently was unable to enter the church and detonated his bomb outside, according to Pakistani newspaper\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/dawn.com\/news\/1044668\/twin-church-blasts-claim-78-lives-in-peshawar\" target=\"_blank\">Dawn<\/a><\/em>. The bombers detonated their bombs within 30 seconds of each other. \u201cThe death toll may rise,\u201d said Zaheerul Islam, Peshawar\u2019s deputy commissioner, according to the\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/world\/worldnow\/la-suicide-bomb-attack-kills-60-at-pakistan-church-20130922,0,3084325.story\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Taliban-linked Pakistani militant group TTP Jundullah claimed responsibility for the attack, reports\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2013\/09\/22\/us-pakistan-blast-idUSBRE98L02K20130922\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a>. The group said it will continue to target non-Muslims in Pakistan until the United States ends its drone attacks in Pakistan\u2019s remote tribal region. On Sunday, a drone strike in North Waziristan killed six suspected militants. Shortly after the attack, protests broke out in several major cities across the country.
