She has recently published a report, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ips-dc.org\/reports\/military_vs_climate_security_mapping_the_shift_from_the_bush_years_to_the_obama_era\" target=\"_blank\">Military vs. Climate Security: Mapping the Shift from the Bush Years to the Obama Era<\/a>,&#8221; a follow-up to her other publication, &#8220;The Budgets Compared: Military vs. Climate Security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This webinar is for labor, peace and community organizers and activists<\/strong>\u00a0who want an in depth review of what we need to do prepare our communities, workers and workplaces for the cuts which have begun in the Pentagon budget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why?<\/strong>\u00a0To move to a \u201cnew economy\u201d which creates good paying, union jobs means organizing to cut the Pentagon budget and move that money to achieve economic conversion. Economic conversion is moving to design peacetime manufacturing and retooling military facilities to produce what our communities need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Webinar RSVP<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:movingtoneweconomy@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\">movingtoneweconomy@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0for Thursday, June 20 8pm EST,\u00a07pm\u00a0Central,\u00a06pm PST<\/p>\n<p>As cuts are made to the Pentagon budget, money should be moved to fund state and city\/town commissions, job development, retraining and other support for workers and their communities to make the transition from military production to green, sustainable industries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This webinar<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>will drill down on proposals for Congressional action and state legislation<\/strong>\u00a0to transition from a war economy to a sustainable peace economy.<\/p>\n<p>Military sector workers and their families should not bear the social cost of making the transition to a sustainable peace economy.\u00a0\u00a0In May, the Connecticut state legislature passed a bill to establish a commission to propose how to convert industry to civilian use. The first bill passed in the country.
