PEP BOARD MEMBER TAKES LEAD ON MARCH ON D.C.
Peace Economy Project Board Member Katerina Canyon is organizing a protest to change the way we look at policing in America.
Canyon will organize the Valentine’s March, a peaceful protest meant to shine a light on the gravity of police brutality. Participants are asked to show up in Washington D.C. with Valentines containing the names of those who have been harmed or killed due to police abuses of authority. These Valentines will be left on the steps of Capitol Hill.
If the death of George Floyd has taught us anything, it is that we need a change to the laws that govern police authority. We are under a system that has ignored abuses of authority for far too long. Police are weaponized for war and they use these weapons against innocent citizens. Police feel no compunction to violate human rights and dignity. It is time for a change now.
