Peace Economy Project to Hold Fundraiser
By Jason Sibert
Peace Economy Project will hold a fundraiser this month.
PEP will show appreciation to its supporters and raise funds with a brunch at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Avenue Restaurant. Avenue is located at 12 N. Meramec in Clayton, Mo. The proceeds from the brunch will support PEP. The cost is 20 dollars per person and 15 dollars for Justice and Peace Shares members. PEP appreciates its supports and it can’t operate without them.
PEP has operated continuously since 1977. The non-profit supports arms control, diplomacy, and a transfer of funds from the military-industrial complex to the civilian sector of our economy. The organization operates a website and two social media pages and has hosted a number of lectures from special guests over the years. Next month, on April 11th, PEP will host former Assistant Secretary of State Tom Countryman at the Unitarian Church in St. Louis. Countryman is also the president of the board of directors of the Arms Control Association.
Peace Economy Project Executive Director Jason Sibert spreads PEP’s message through published stories, letters to the editor, and works of opinion journalism. His work has appeared in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, PEP’s website, the Belleville News-Democrat, St. Louis Public News, the Alton Telegraph, Today’s Advantage, the Troy Times-Tribune, Progressive Populist, and OpEdNews.com. PEP also engages young people will a college intern program.
The organization is currently working to introduce an arms control and diplomacy fellowship for a local undergraduate or graduate student this summer. The fellow, like fellows with other non-profits, will write on subjects that promote PEP’s mission. Sibert has been working hard to secure grant funding for the program.
Those interested in the brunch can RSVP by March 14: 314.726.6406 or peaceeconomyproject@gmail.com
