Boeing wins $39 million in business from Department of Defense

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Boeing Co. St. Louis with a $39.5 million modification to a contract for joint direct attack munitions, according to the department.
The contract will add 1,601 joint direct attack munition tailkits, and the value of the overall contract now totals $141.9 million.
Work on the tailkits, a small lifting surface located on the tail of an aircraft, will be performed in Saint Charles, and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2015.
In the first quarter, Chicago-based Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) reported net income of $1.1 billion on total revenue of $18.9 billion.
Boeing Defense, Space & Security, based in Hazelwood, is a $33 billion business with 59,000 employees worldwide and 14,730 in the St. Louis area.
